A powerful breakdown of value beliefs, why they matter, and how to rewire your mind to recognize your true worth and destined greatness.

Welcome and Introduction

Welcome to this week's You Are Destined for Greatness. Got some big ideas this week, and I hope it's going to help because here's the thing.

Talking about value beliefs, now that is different from behavior beliefs. Behavior beliefs being things like, “Oh, I can't remember names, or I'll never be able to earn that much money, or I could never do that,” or something that's related to a behavior. Value beliefs being things like, “I don't really, don't deserve that, or I'll never be able to do that. I don't do that. I'm not quite good enough.”

These are related to our value as a human being, a value as a soul.

So talking about value beliefs because they're so important, they're at the baseline, they're at the foundation, what all of our other behavior in life come from that gives us our results.

Why Value Beliefs Block Change

A lot of times now when we want to change them into an intentional belief, when we want to upgrade, a lot of times I have people coming to me and they just say, Shane, it's not working. I want to believe it, I want to believe it, but I can't. Okay, it's just not, I've been trying, it's not working.

We need to get rid of two blockers. You just need to do a little prep beforehand. It's going to make it so much easier. It's not that complicated. But there's two things I'm going to give you, it'll help you if you're trying to upgrade your belief. If you want to believe that you're invaluable, if you want to separate your behavior from your value, if you want to be priceless, if you want to know that no matter what you've done, and no matter what you haven't done, and no matter what's been done to you, that you're still 100%. It doesn't excuse anything, doesn't absolve any responsibility, doesn't make it well, it just separates it, separates you from behavior.

If you want to believe that, if you want to know that, as a matter of fact, there's a couple things a lot of times it'll block you. Okay. And then you'll get defeated and then you'll quit trying to believe something better and you'll prove your old belief true and you'll still be stuck at the same unhappy place. Sounds so sad, but you don't have to be, here's how to get rid of two of the things, okay?

Blocker #1: Resentment Toward Your Past Beliefs

Number one is if you look back on your past and you're mad at the old belief and you think you're defective somehow because you've been thinking this thing that you're less than and it's been messing you up and how could you do this to yourself and all of that. Okay because your brain needs to be right and if you tell it it's defective it's going to fight you every step of the way so the way to look at that is just to shift, go back and shift how your past has been. Because here's the thing about your past with your old belief that told you you weren't quite good enough you didn't quite measure up, not withstanding that belief it brought you to where you are today. It provided your life experience even with that belief, which by the way served the purpose.

It helped you somehow. It helped you cope. It helped protect you. There's a reason it got there. It might not be serving you now. And it might not have totally been the best thing at the time, but it gave you all the goodness that you are now.

Think about all the traits that you have because of the broken road that you've been through to get here. All the, all the things that you've learned and all the experiences that you've had and think about the things that you've learned that have made you, okay?

All that has to be okay. It's just time for an upgrade. It's not wrong and all messed up and all that. It's just time to step it up, to up level your beliefs about yourself so you can have even better results and not have this belief, value belief, blocking your progress in this lifetime.

Okay, so change your perspective on how you're viewing the past.

Blocker #2: Beliefs That Feel Too Big

Second of all, if it's too big, if it just feels so overwhelming to believe it, it's like an affirmation, it's too much. You know, it's just like, every time you say it, “I'm 100%, I'm perfectly priceless.” Your brain goes, “No, you're not, no, you're not, no you're not.”

And so you're fighting against yourself because it could possibly be that what you're going for is a little too much. Now, it's true that you can believe anything you want to, bar none, no restrictions, okay? You can believe anything. But sometimes if you take too much at a time, you need to take it a step at a time to get to where you want to be. Okay.

So when you, when you think about visualizing yourself with your new belief, so here I go. I was going to think that I'm perfectly priceless, I'm 100% my value. But when I think that, and I think what that would be like if I fully believe that, if it just feels overwhelming, it's just like it's too much. It's not, doesn't mean something's wrong, it means you just need to back it down a notch, okay?

“I'm okay sometimes. I'm better than I thought I was.”

Think of a lesser belief that really resonates with you, and then go with that one. Solidify that one, and then we'll step it right back up to the place you wanted to be that you're 100%. So this ladder system could be the key.

How to Build Beliefs Step by Step

So the way that you know is when you visualize and you imagine yourself fully believing the new belief if it just feels just genuinely overwhelming, back it down a little bit. Okay. And you'll know what feels right. Go for that one, get it solid, and move it back up.

You can believe anything you want to. And all we're doing right now is working on your brain. We don't have to, we're just convincing your brain to believe it. The fact of the matter is you're already 100%. You just need to realize it, come to know it, fully internalize it, fully believe and accept it, and things are going to start changing for you.

Consistency and Daily Practice

And it's not just something that you get done. It's something that you work on every day. Something that you work on every day maintaining and building and developing. And trust me, it's time once, well spent.
